Many life-threatening accidents occur during leisure activities in the ocean or rivers, such as being swept into the water or drowning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An average of 1,381 water-related accidents occur annually throughout Japan. About 60% of these accidents occur in the ocean and 30% in rivers, but when limited to children under the age of 13, more children die in rivers than in the ocean every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here,<\/strong> we would like to share with you six points to protect your life from water accidents.
<\/strong>
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • (1) Do not play in dangerous areas such as no-swimming zones Even if the ocean or river looks calm, it may be a dangerous place where accidents can easily occur, such as when the water suddenly becomes deep or when there is a strong “rip current” flowing out to sea.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    • (2) Do not play in bad weather. Be especially careful when playing in rivers, as the water may suddenly rise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      • (3) Do not allow children to play alone. Always have an adult accompany your child and keep an eye on him or her.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        • (4) Do not swim if you are in poor health. Do not overdo it when you are sleep deprived, for example. Swimming or fishing after drinking alcohol or while drinking is also extremely dangerous.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          • (5) Be careful about sunburn and hydration. *Take frequent breaks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
